Random Tidbits

I have a little time tonight, as my awesome hubby is keeping the kiddos occupied!  So I thought I’d get some pics up before I have too many to fit in one post!

This week I decided to try out ‘flex time’ at work – I’ve been going in at 7:30 each morning so that I could leave early one afternoon – I chose today to leave early – and decided to spend the afternoon with Alyson, Loretta, and Henry (can’t believe they’re almost three weeks old already!) so I could help out with a feeding and just catch up with Al.  I snapped a couple pics w/ my phone (so not the greatest quality) Here is Henry so relaxed with mama and this pic is great for so many reasons, first of all his position (I think he has a question!), second, Al looks INCREDIBLE  (she just had twins, WHAT?!)  and third, the little outfit Henry was Owen’s and it brings back memories of him being a little peanut!

and can’t forget miss Loretta – she’s a tiny little sleeping beauty all bundled up!

It was an afternoon well spent, we had a great time having some girl talk and I couldn’t be happier lovin’ on those sweet little babes!

After I left Al’s I ran a couple errands, then decided there was too much to do at home, so now here I sit updating my blog!! ha! So let the random blogging begin…

I think I mentioned before that Owen loves to hold Sydney’s hand (he calls her ‘My Baby Sydney’) What a protective older brother he will be (and already is – at school when the other kids get near her he yells out, “NO my baby Sydney”)…anyway, here are a couple of shots of him holding her hand and just hanging out!

Pretty Girl…

Papa and littles…IMG_5231 Owen never ceases to amaze me with the things he observes and then has to talk about, gotta love that kid…the other day out of the blue, he saw that I had my flip flops on so he said….

(pointing to his toes), "ha ha, my piggies mama"

(looks over and points to my toes), "mama's big piggies"

(points down the hall toward Sydney’s room where she was sleeping) "baby Sydney's little piggies" (while making a small space between his hands to show 'little')

The other day, Owen found a pair of Sydney’s sunglasses (for when she’s older) in her drawer, and he HAD to put them on – never mind that they have orange lenses and flowered frames, he thought they were AWESOME! He wore them around for quite a while! First he played his piano in them…. IMG_5234

Then he decided to jump off the stool in them – or “jump out'” as he says (and we all know that cool sunglasses make you jump higher, right?! )

Up on the stool….”LOOK AT ME”….

The wind-up….

And the jump…

And another jump…

…and another….

IMG_5245

…in this next pic, can’t you just see little stinker written all over this little face of his? yup, we was standing on the couch (and knows he’s not supposed to) and I was trying to get him into the bathroom to get ready for bed, and he wanted to play, he was pushing all of my buttons, but then he looks at you with this face and you just can’t be upset with him, he’s too stinkin cute! :)

One more pic for good measure…sweet Sydney, hangin out on her Boppy with her little dolly friend….

Gee-Fa Loves YOU!!!

Owen has two favorite books at bedtime:
Dr Seuss' "The Foot Book"
and a book called "Jesus Loves You"

He pretty much has both of them committed to memory; anytime I stop saying a phrase within either book, he will finish it up! So sweet to hear!

Here he was a couple of nights ago reading Jesus Loves You...(sorry for the dark video, i got this on my little camera instead of the video camera

Me:
No matter what happens, this will be true...

Him:

(translation: Always forever, Jesus loves you)

Three Months!

Little miss Sydney is THREE months old! Time sure flies when you're having fun! I will definitely say, it has flown by even faster this time around, now that we have two kiddos!

So, what has littles been up to you ask?

  • She slept through the night a few times (in her crib even) from about 9-5 or 9-6 (her first time was at about 10.5 weeks), but then just when I thought we were on to something, she decided she needed to get up once a night again! She still thinks her own bed is no fun to sleep in most of the time, but I've found that if I wait until she is totally OUT before I put her in there, she tends to do ok!
  • She is becoming more and more alert, and developing quite the fun little personality
  • She is starting to talk and shriek when she gets excited about her toys or whoever is playing with - but she doesn't talk that often...she's generally pretty quiet!
  • She has realized that she can grab things, but mostly its just her clothes or her blankets, not her toys yet; she grabs onto her blanket and jams it into her mouth! We've been putting her in little dresses lately and she will hike them right up and chew on them - she better stop that habit once she grows up! :)
  • She started sucking on her hand(s) at about 9 weeks and I’ve found its usually a cue that she is tired
  • She noticed her hands when she was playing the other day she just kind of stopped and stared at one of them as it passed in front of her face
  • Her attention span seems to be pretty long. She will play (stare mostly and talk a little) with her toys for quite a while
  • She loves bath time! We usually give her a bath in the big tub, in her little tub chair and she kicks a little and just lays back and enjoys the relaxing warm water! :) Owen enjoys having company in the tub too - he loves to pour water on her feet and she loves anything as long as he's around, she just seems to be in awe of him most of the time!

Here they are reading together…she looks so interested, right?! :)

IMG_5194

She did get a little more into it, here she is getting so excited to hear his voice! :) IMG_5199

Other things she’s been up to….

  • She had her first trip to the cottage at about 10 weeks old
  • She smiles all the time! Even if she's really hungry or really crabby, you can still usually get her to crack a smile! Her entire face lights right up when she smiles, such a sweet little smile she has!
    IMG_5171
  • She usually eats about 5oz five times a day and does great transitioning between bottle and breastfeeding
  • She is wearing size 1-2 diapers and mostly 3 mo clothes, but still some 0-3 month sleepers
  • She loves playing dress up! Her new favorite (er, my favorite) is shoes – since the smallest ones she has are finally fitting her…After Owen got his shoes on for the day yesterday, he wanted Sydney to put her shoes on too – and then he wanted her to walk with him, so here they are walking together! (notice him holding her hand? he does it all the time and its just so precious!)

Here are the monthly pics with her friends, miss bear and mr frog…IMG_5179

Froggy, take one (she has a little annoyed smirk – she was ready for a nap!)IMG_5185 Take two, just before bedtime, kinda blurry but you get the point - she was smilin @ papa! :) IMG_5208

…and that’s our little Sydney, sweet as can be! :)

Our Future Home

Its official! We are going to live in Hamilton someday soon! We found a 15+ acre parcel of land quite a while back and decided we wanted to buy it; we made an offer, got financed, got a purchase agreement all drawn up and signed, and were hoping to close before Sydney was even born, but we got held up along the way due to some issues the seller was having, but yesterday, it was finally official, we became new land owners!

We plan to build there within the next 3-4 yrs, after we pay it off and get our house on the market and sold. In the meantime, we are doing some home improvement projects around here....we have started residing the house and will be updating both of our bathrooms too!

Lots going on, but its looking really good already! I will post pics soon!

...And stay tuned for Sydney's THREE month post, coming tomorrow!

Bedtime with Cranky Kids

It was bedtime for Owen, and Sydney was screaming, what to do...

Tried to calm her, she wasn't havin it! It was clear that she needed to eat, NOW!

But that would push Owen's bedtime back too long, and he was TIRED! He was getting agitated with her screaming, so I decided to do a super quick tie up of the sleepy wrap and Sydney was out like a light!

Then I had to figure out how to clean Owen up, get him changed and into his pjs, read him a story and get him in his crib with her strapped to me! I managed just fine and so did he (and sydney too).

It kind of felt like being pregnant again, trying to maneuver around with her on me! She's still asleep and wrapped up tight! Had tried this wrap earlier and she hated it! Think it might be our new best friend!

And one other tidbit about tonight...flashlights on the ceiling and walls + cat + baby = lots of entertainment! :)

Knock Knock…

Who’s There?!.

That’s right, I want to know who you are!   :)

I'm always curious who reads my blog.  So, a while back I added a tracker, which shows how many visitors, where they're from, etc. But it still doesn't tell me WHO is reading.

So, if you would, leave a comment on this post, I’d love to know who you are!!
