This ‘n That

Lots of catch-up pics…

First….Mother’s Day

We went to Gran’s house for ‘brunch’ and had egg casserole, fruit, and other yummy treats.  I didn’t even pull out my camera, except for in the driveway for some reason…here is papa and his mini me….

Afterwards, we went to Grandma and Grandpa’s – we had a late lunch of porkchops, salad, corn, and other things I’m sure I’m forgetting…The cousins had a blast playing, and it was our first time ever for Owen to miss his nap time.  He was pretty tired, but quite the trooper! We stayed until just about his bed time and he was out in no time! :)

Here are Kenz, O, and D hangin out in the recliner together….

Owen even got in on Bananagrams with Aunt Jen, Great Gma, Gma, and D

Sydney is telling Grandma quite the story…

Random non-transition transition…School tuckers little miss Sydney right out, here she is after a Monday at school, she looks SO serious when she sleeps!

IMG_5099

We were all playing in Sydney’s room one night at bed time…Owen likes to get Sydney’s Bumbo out and try to sit in it (we have to help him out, cuz his little (er big) thighs always get stuck) and Sydney got hungry so here we all are doin what we do best…IMG_5111

Same night, both kids were gonna get a bath, so Owen was running around in his diaper and I had him lay next to Sydney, look at these two little cuties!

The other day, Scott had some bonding time with the kiddos, Sydney pretty much loves this guy!

and Owen loves his snacks! (and of course Papa too!)

IMG_0232

This weekend I ran some errands one morning (yes, same morning of the pen incident with Owen) and Owen got to be a big brother helper and feed Sydney, he pretty much thought he was awesome (this is his ‘cheese’ face, by the way)

IMG_0238

We’ve been spending lots of time outside, playing with the pool, water table, the hose, bubbles, anything to keep that little guy busy!  Here he is SO excited about his pool!

IMG_5119

Loves his slide too!!

IMG_5128

And little miss Sydney just comes along for the ride, here she is chilling out under her big golf umbrella while Owen played…even under the umbrella that sun sure was bright for her!! :)

So that’s it for now, stay tuned!

Cottage Life

A couple of weekends ago, actually the weekend after my first week back at work, the fam headed up to the cottage (it was Sydney’s first trip there!).  My mom joined us too, and Scott’s parent’s were also up there, much fun was had by all!

Mom Kole loves puzzles and does them quite a bit at the cottage, she even has a ‘puzzle photo album’ – my mom was gung-ho about doing a puzzle and her goal was to make it into the puzzle album! :)

Here are Owen and Gran on Saturday morning doing ‘the weekend puzzle’ together…

100_0151  We (Gran, Grandma, the kids, and I) hit up some garage sales on Saturday – and scored a toy chest for outside toys – I LOVE garage sales!  (more on that in a later post) We all took turns staying in the car with the kiddos and Grandma thought this was quite the photo op and she always has her camera handy! :)  100_0153

Sydney had a little spit up issue at one point and had to get a sponge bath, since her little tubber was in the room Owen was napping in at the time.  She didn’t mind!

100_0165

She’s such a happy little girl! She did great at the cottage – slept about 6-7 hrs each night! and when we got there she was almost a week with NO poops and finally on Sunday, Grandma watched her for a little bit while my mom and I went to get some diapers at the store and we were gone not even when 10 minutes when she exploded.  Actually it wasn’t that bad, all contained in the diaper even!  Grandma has earned the title the ‘poop whisperer’!

Here’s Scott with a ‘whole mess of fish’ that he and Grandpa caught! We had a fish fry together the following week when we got home!

Grandma and Gran hard at work (notice the fine spectacles they are sporting?)

100_0168

And sans spectacles!

Gran and Sydney cuddling…100_0161

Grandma and Sydney cuddling (there was lots of grandkid cuddling to be had this weekend, and the two grandmas didn’t even fight over them)!! :)

 100_0176

Grandpa and Owen playing ‘Whack-A-Mole’ Grandma and Grandpa babysat on Sat night while Gran, Scott, and I headed to the casino

100_0177

Sydney playin with her new playmat…100_0179

I think she likes it!

100_0180

We also had fun singing and dancing that weekend! Gran taught us a fine song ‘A Tooty Ta’ or something like that, basically you do something different (thumbs up, elbows back, tongue out, bottom’s back) each verse and sing ‘A tooty ta a tooty ta, a tooty ta ta’ – lots of entertainment for the kiddos (well, and for the adults!)…..

…..And the puzzle is complete (almost!) Notice Gran working on a remedial puzzle?!

100_0184

On Sunday, Gran, Owen, Scott and I headed out on the boat, it was beautiful weather!!

100_0188

Once again, we had an awesome time at the cottage! Can’t wait to get back again this summer! Thanks Grandma and Grandpa for having us! and Thanks Gran, for coming along! :)

Future Tattoo Artist?

So, this morning, I went out to run errands while Papa stayed home with the kiddos. Owen was quietly watching Mickey and Scott went to check on him and found this!!!

When Scott asked him what he was doing, he just started giggling, he thought he was pretty funny! Scott asked him where he found the pen and Owen just pointed, he had found it in the cushion of the couch! Little goober!

Healthy Babe

Sydney had her two month checkup yesterday and the Dr said she couldn't be any healthier!

Her ear infection has completely cleared up and she is growing right on track.

Her current stats are:

Weight: 10lbs 14oz (50th percentile)

Height: 21 1/2" (30th percentile)

Head Circumference: 90th percentile (what can I say, she needs room for all those brains!)

She had shots at this appointment too, and did amazing! She just cried at the initial shock of the shots, but I was talking to her the whole time and she calmed right down when she could finally hear my voice and after her shots were done, I nursed her a little bit and she was perfectly content!

Poor little 'war wounds' (the Band-Aids are pink camo - how fitting for this little one!)

How blessed we are to have this beautiful, healthy little girl in our lives to love!

Two Months!

I say this every time, but where the heck does time go?!

Little Miss Sydney is TWO months old!!

She's growing and changing so fast!

Here's what she's been up to lately:

Smiling like crazy! Her first real smile was on 4/18 @ about 5 1/2 weeks old

Sleeping pretty good! She slept 5 hrs straight 6 weeks and normally sleeps 5-6 hr stretches ea night

But...she doesn't care much for sleeping in her crib - so she sleeps in her bouncy chair right by our bed. For the past couple of nights when she's been sleeping really sound, I've stuck her her in her crib - one night she slept 5 hrs straight in there!! I woke up around 2 am and got up before she even woke me up and freaked out when i didn't see her in her bouncy, then remembered I had put her in her crib before I headed to bed so I made a beeline for her room to make sure she was ok - she was snoring away! I'm getting worried about transitioning her to her crib - worried that she won't ever like it, but at this point, I keep telling myself to let her sleep wherever she wants to sleep so I can get some sleep too! I have a friend who gave me some advice about this - as her daughter didn't sleep in her crib at first either and she was able to transition her daughter to the crib without many issues at all @ 6 months!! So that gave me some hope!!

She is going about 7-8 hrs between feedings at night (too bad she doesn't sleep that whole time!)

She's really starting to talk and there is nothing sweeter than sweet baby coos!

Just started daycare on Monday and loves it and they love her! She is the only infant there right now, so she is totally spoiled!

LOVES to be warm - wears little socks on her hands still because her hands get so cold so fast

Wearing size 1-2 diapers and size 0-3 mo clothes, she grew out of newborn sleepers at about 4 weeks and then other newborn two piece clothes completely about 6ish weeks.

We're guessing she weighs about 11 or 12 lbs - but we will find out at her 2 mo appointment - which will be on Monday, which I am NOT looking forward to because of her shots, but Owen didn't seem to mind them too terribly much when he was that young so we'll see how it goes!

She has her days where she seems like she's grown SO much over night!!

She has always been a pooping machine, but for the past week its been really sporadic! Don't know if its because she just started daycare and its just a lot of changes or what - but so far we are going on 4+ day w/o a bowel movement! But we have plenty of man-like gas instead

Loves playing with her brother and mama!

Is really starting to enjoy bath time! And took her first bath in the big tub this week. (I found a brand new infant bath seat at a garage sale - and it works great!)

And here are her two month froggy/bear pics

I think she loves her bear

Picture Update

Just a quick update…we’ve been staying busy and having fun in the process, here’s what we’ve been up to lately!

Sydney has been having some nice snuggle time with papa before we head to bed, she LOVES to be super warm and practically passes out when hot-blooded papa puts her on his chest!  Here is papa snugglin w/ littles and givin Owen a ni-night kiss…so sweet!

IMG_5022

Littles (aka girlie, sweets, or Sydney) has been growing like CRAZY lately!  She just looks so grown up here!   IMG_5030Mr O is now 22 months old, where oh where has the time gone?! He’s learning new things every day and is just at such a fun age (when he’s not whining! ha!) Last weekend Grandma and Grandpa took him to the cottage – he had a BLAST.  He played outside a lot…

 100_5660

…Got to go on Grandpa’s red boat and he loved the horn (beep beep).  He even got to go under some ‘bitches’ (bridges – ha!)…

100_5686 …Played with toys – notice the concentration here?!?… 100_5695

…Went fishing…

100_5706…He even got to eat outside! 100_5708  Here he is on the way home (notice the cute crossed legs) 100_5711

Pretty sure he had an AWESOME time, and I think Grandma and Grandpa enjoyed themselves too! Scott and I had a nice relaxing weekend too – so it was an all around treat for everyone! Thank you Grandma and Grandpa!

Here’s a recent pic of Syd – she can’t sit up too long but she doesn’t seem to mind her bumbo! IMG_5055We went downtown on Wed night for dinner w/ the whole Kole fam.  Owen had a BLAST running around the fountain area with cousin Kenzie!  He just kept going and going and going.  We weren’t able to stay long enough to watch Aunt Jen dutch dance, because it was WAY past his bed time and we’re so glad we left when we did, he was a HANDFUL when we got home! :)

 IMG_5041

Here’s what Sydney was up to the whole time we were downtown! IMG_5046

Since it’s been so nice out lately, we’ve been trying to get out as much as we can. We’ve been taking lots of walks, here we are before a walk where we tried out the baby bjorn for the first time.  Can you tell someone is a little excited for their walk?!

Sydney loved the Bjorn!! She was asleep before we even passed the next door neighbor’s house and slept the whole time!  IMG_5056

And one last pic for good measure.  Owen and I were enjoying a snack of apples dipped in Nutella…When I wasn’t paying attention he picked up the small bowl that I had the Nutella in and tried to drink it, apparently…and so we have the Nutella grin (kind of like the Joker grin I think! haha!)….

So, if you know me, you know I enjoy playing dress up with my children and like it even more if the babes cooperate so we can have a photo op!

Today, I was inspired by the pic I posted in my last update - of Owen laying on the blue and white blanket from Great Grandma - in his camo onesie and bib overalls! I had both clothing items already pulled out and set aside for Sydney to put on - long ago - just knowing I would have to do some sort of a photo op with them.

So here is Owen (7 weeks exactly - not 6 like I thought earlier)...

(what a little chunker!)

and Sydney at 7 weeks and 3 days...
