we did a photo scavenger hunt – we split into two teams and had to take pics of things about the future bride and groom…

this one was my mom’s team’s take on the future bride and groom’s first date…IMAG0237

this one is a pic of ‘someone in your group in a wedding dress’ IMAG0233

there were many other pics and people got pretty creative!  our team stalked someone in walgreens – for the pic on the list to ‘get a pic of someone who looks like the future groom’ – we actually found someone who fit the bill – but he was shopping for something we thought he might be kind of embarrassed about – so we eventually left him alone!  :)

Her bachelorette party started at New Holland…the moms were even invited – but they bailed after dinner….

Katy was very ambitious and did ALOT of things on her own for the wedding.  She asked for my help with the programs and we had a little assembly night to get them all put together.  they turned out so cute!  IMG_0720

Their rehearsal dinner was at the bowling alley and was SUCH a fun time.  They had just opened up a new private room and it was just perfect for the rehearsal party!

They had a little bride and groom made from bowling pins – kinda cute/kinda creepy.  :)  They also had a huge screen that we were able to put pictures up of them…owen and syd thought it was so amazing to see them on ‘tv’  :)DSCF7201 - Copy

these two had the dance floor to themselves for quite a bit and really tore it up – they were soooooo stinkin cute!!!IMG_0334

Unfortunately, I don’t have a pic of the bride and groom on their wedding day; but I do have a link to their entire wedding album that I’ll share:

What an perfectly beautiful day and we’re so lucky to have Katy as a new addition to our family!  :)

perhaps the most amazing pic of the day was one of my mom – she went out with a group of people after we had to pack up the reception…someone texted me this picture later that night…wow. there are no other words. IMG_0490_2

Papa’s Birthday

Scott’s birthday was at the end of October and the kiddos and I wanted to make him a cake…they were SO excited about making it, but even more excited about decorating it!! Owen wanted it to have a squirrel with a funny nut on it…and luckily..we had a squirrel and an acorn toy along with many other animals…and superheroes that made it on the cake…stay tuned for the splendor!
SO happy to help mama mix up the cakeIMG_0769
Very serious about it!IMG_0780
Per owen’s suggestion, we hid the cake in his closet from papa…
IMG_0791

the final product…there are trees, a wolf, a funny nut, a squirrrel, dory from Nemo…and even spiderman, all haphazardly placed with love on papa’s cake!  Papa said it was the best cake anyone had ever made for him!!! IMG_0795
had to include this second shot too bc syd’s face cracks me up. think she could be any more excited?!IMG_0796
After cake time, we headed out to Post family farm to pick out pumpkins..it was amazingly warm that night…and we had an awesome time!!! IMG_0798 IMG_0800
so into it!!!
notice: the tongue sticking out, the shirt lifted up due to the sheer mass of the pumpkin that probably weighed about 1/3 of her body weight..and the dino boots…she begs to wear them quite often!

little kickers

We signed up for Little Kickers soccer this fall – its a little three on three game on tiny little fields – its a lot of clusters of kids around a ball!! :)
he learned a lot of new skills and had so much fun!! The season got off to a slow start for him when in the first game he scored a ‘goal’ …in the other team’s side!  he knew what he did right away and from then on he was NOT going to play…took him a couple of weeks to get back into things…But once he did, he loved it and even scored quite a few goals (in the right goal!)
did I also mention that we signed up to coach also?  yeah…well scott ended up teaching on the nights that soccer was held, so *I* got to coach!! I know (very) little about soccer….thankfully it was just for three and four year olds and the didn’t know the difference…also thankfully I got to co-coach with Nicole (Lil’s mama)…we ended up having a great time with it!

two.and.a.half.

September marked Sydney being the ripe old age of 2 1/2!

I did take pics and write everything up back in Sept, just a little late in getting this posted!

here’s some stats and general info:
she is wearing a size 2T/3T and a size 7 shoe
She’s still in diapers – wears a size 4. we are working a little on potty training, but she isn’t too interested in it yet, so we’re not pushing it too much.
as of sept she was still sleeping with her fifi (paci) and blanket
she takes one nap – about 1-3 hrs
she weighs about 27 lbs

Here’s what Miss Sydney’s life looks like:
She loves to read! she will read books out loud to herself – so sweet.  When she reads out loud, she sort of smacks her lips in between words sometimes …super cute :) She also loves to be read to.  she typically asks to take a new book to bed with her each night and almost every day she wants to take one to school too!  At bedtime, she will reach out to her light switch and try to turn the lights on so she can read…little stinker!

She also loves to sing! some of her favorites are baby bumblebee and twinkle twinkle little star…she will make up songs to the tune of different songs too…the other day in the morning:  there’s no light in here, not a light in my room over and over to the tune of rock a bye baby….she also loves to sing along to the radio!

sorry you’ll have to tilt your head to see this, I tried to rotate it, but i guess it didn’t work…

she is quite the little jabber jaw and says the cutest things sometimes:

She calls cupcakes ‘pupcakes’

if she wants something, she will say: ‘please i can have...’

conversation the other day:
me: ‘look at your little foot’
s: ‘thats not my little foot, thats my big one, little one right here!’

She’s quite the observer and thinker…we were out for icecream downtown and syd saw some flowers on the counter: “look at the pretty flowers, people made them” Papa: ‘yes, they are pretty, and people probably planted them, but do you know who actually made them?” without missing a beat syd: “Jesus!”

She is quite the little diva still…she definitely wants things her way and her way only.  she will get pretty upset when she is told no and often goes into her room and slams her door!  (oh my, what will the teenage years be like?)

here’s a little example of her sassy pants nature….she and owen were playing and they were talking to each other.  Owen didn’t hear what she said so she repeated it, he still didn’t understand so asked her what again...she huffed loudly, said “owen” in a snotty little voice, then went right in his face and whispered whatever it was that she wanted to tell him.  wow.

She is very meticulous - up at cottage, she had her babies outside on the rocker and put a blanket on them...then she would go lay down on a lounge chair, pretend to sleep for a second, then walk back to her babies, push the blanket out of the way, pick up each baby, slide her arm around them, pat their back, then take the blanket pick it up, shake it out 10-13 times, cover her babies and do the whole process over again...and again...and again....like 20 times - not exaggerating

She has an infectious little smile; and it just couldn’t get any bigger!

DSCF7110
IMAG1225

is very thoughtful and loves to care for other people…she will come over and give you a hug if you’re not feeling well or she will make sure owen has everything he needs.  the other day: with owen’s milk in her hand: ‘i gonna put this right here for you, alright? i gonna put this on the counter, owen’

she’s also very adventurous! she likes to try new things – most of the time..and definitely more so than owen ever did.  she was so excited to go on a seadoo ride with papa this summer!
