Mother’s & Father’s Day 2013

just a quick little combined post about Mother’s and Father’s Day this year….

owen made me this vase and flower – its now in my office at work!

syd did this little bag full of cute stuff at school with her little handprint

and scott took the kids to the dollar store and let them pick stuff out for me – and they mad me a fun little tote bag for work.  They picked out their colors and did hand and feet prints

For fathers day, the kids and I did a fun card for papa…I had them hold a ‘text bubble’ and took some pics of them – then asked them what they liked best about him….

here’s what we came up with….

Tulip Time

We didn’t really get into the whole parade or dressing up thing this year for Tulip Time…but we did have some impromptu fun with friends at the Kinderplaats festival!

we ran into a couple of friends and decided to hang out together – we went on some rides, walked downtown for dinner and ate some fro-yo!

We did manage to make it downtown for the Dutch Dancers once while my Aunt Darlene was in town…we headed for coldstone *gasp* before we watched the show…

Me Weekend

For my birthday, Scott gave me a ‘me weekend’ away up north at his parents’ cottage in Ludington. 

along with it was a fun gift basket filled my favorite things…gift certs to starbucks, maurices, movie store along with cadbury mini eggs, swedish fish, wine, and a yummy cupcake…I’d say he totally outdid himself!  what a sweet and thoughtful guy! This was how I spent a lot of my weekend away..feet up and some mindless tv and a good book! 

I was also training for my first 10k race that was the following weekend, so I did get in a nice long run out at the state park and a cross training class at the gym. 

oh…and a little gambling!  I won $225!!!  :) 

it was a much needed time away – so blessed to have a supportive family so I can do stuff like this :)

First Fishing Fun of the Spring

We were lucky with such nice weather and sunshine in April so the kiddos went on their first fishing trip of the spring with papa at the pond by our house…
so excited for her first fish!
this was definitely the first of many fishing trips to this pond for the year!  these kiddos are definitely their father’s children.

Spring Break Fun

Over Spring Break the kiddos had some fun…

I took them to GR one day to the Children’s Museum then lunch…

they loved the climbing wall…was surprised Syd went up on it like she did and Owen wished there were grips up higher!

all of a sudden at one point I looked over to where syd was playing in the little tree house thing and didn’t see her right away…she had sat down and was reading books…so cute that with everything going on and all the fun stuff there is to do there, that she wanted to sit and read!

another fun Spring Break Activity was making brownies!  They LOVED helping measure and pour in the ingredients and of course lick the left over batter!

Grandma and Grandpa took the kiddos and their cousins one  day of spring break and they headed off to see the butterflies at Meijer Gardens.
