7 1/2 weeks old
With dooms-day fast approaching (next Tues, the day I have to return to work) we have been trying to get Owen on a schedule at night to see if it helps with getting him to sleep longer stretches (while mamma is getting used to the sleep deprivation, getting up every 2-3 hours is starting to take its toll).
Our routine includes a bath around 7:30ish, which he loves, then he gets dried off, lotioned up and dressed, and I get his room set up for bed (turn on the whitenoise machine, set the lights really low and turn on the ceiling fan), he eats and I rock him while burping and finally he goes down to sleep around 8. When we started this - he was sleeping until about 12 or 12:30 (still a great improvement from before) - then it progressed until 1 or so - and then last night....(drum roll please)...he slept from 8-2 !! thats 6 hours !! I figured he'd be back up around 430 or 5 - nope - he slept until 6:30!!! what a great night and hopefully only the start of whats to come!!
The newest milestone for Owen is him finding his thumb. He doesn't find it every time, but when he does, he loves it and is so happy and looks sooo cute!!
In other happenings...last night I decided to raid Owen's closet and just put him in something crazy (he seems to like getting dressed up, I swear) so here's what we came up with...his bathrobe (aka smoking jacket), sweet old man hat, and some crazy booties that are MUCH too large for him (imagine that - something to BIG for Owen - my chunky monkey?!)...
And since its all about him...another picture for good measure...

He is super adorable!!! Thanks for that post...inspirational:)
I am still laughing at the thought of you playing dress up with your baby. Was Scott involved, too? ;)
Nice work, Owen! That is the most glorious thing when they sleep for long stretches for the first time. Congrats and here's to more sleep for EVERYONE in the coming weeks!
I have no idea what it is like to have a baby sleep for a long stretch... well maybe I understand a little because I am elated when my 8 toddlers sleep for 2 hours at nap! But anyways... I am super happy and excited for you that Owen is beginning to sleep so long, that is fab-u-lous! I was squealing with delight at the pictures. He really is the CUTEST. Baby. EVER!! Wow, rambling comment......
I just love the smoking jacket and the old man hat. Missing you guys lots. Auntie Kate
