We went up to the cottage over the long Fourth of July weekend…Grandma, Grandpa, Paul, Jen, Kenz, and Dylan were also spending the weekend up there.
Owen couldn’t have been happier to play with his cousins and go fishing and swimming….Sydney on the other hand, had a tough weekend….we think it was her teeth or something….either way, she wouldn’t let Scott or I out of her sight even for a minute and wouldn’t usually let us set her down….we still managed to have a good time, despite her neediness…and it was a perfect weekend weather-wise, which was great!
To start the weekend out right, Owen headed straight out to the lake to go fishing with Uncle Paul, Dylan, and Kenz. He got a little excited leaning over to check something out and took a little tumble into the lake. Uncle Paul was right there to rescue him and teased Owen that he caught an ‘Owie Fish’, which Owen thought was great, and got his mind off of falling in….
On Saturday afternoon, we went to the Dokter’s annual Fourth of July celebration…
Syd and Kenz got dressed up in their red white and blue….
EVERYONE enjoyed lots and lots of watermelon….(along with so many other awesome things for dinner)…
The kiddos played in the water and the sand and we all enjoyed the sunshine and good company….
This pic pretty much sums up the weekend, laziness and fun! dylan and owen are starting out the day right with games on ‘their’ ipod and phone….and papa is rubbing syds back, as she takes a break from playing…..
Say cheese….
Owen went on his first paddle boat ride of the season and had a blast. Aunt Jen took him, Dylan and Kenz out for a quick ride and he had so much fun he talked Uncle Paul into taking them out again, this time he got brave and sat in the way back with his feet splashing in the lake!
The weekend was also spent fishing and fishing and fishing some more – Owen even caught his first fish by himself - aside from baiting the hook….
and somehow I don’t have one picture of anyone fishing? Not sure what happened there…
but i do have a cute pic of scott and syd doing the ‘itsy bitsy spider’…she was so proud of herself, because she crawled up on the tote all by herself and got papa to sing with her….
Mr Murfles….just veggin out on the deck, what he does best!
On Sunday and Monday, we ‘beached it’ on the pontoon at the dunes
Scott, Dylan and Jen rode on grappy’s ‘red boat’ and Owen and Kenz thought it was great to be able to wave to them as they passed us
Poor little Syd had a temp on sun – and slept most of the day - in my arms and on the beach
my little beach-baby…
The kids all watching uncle Paul ride the sea doo next to the boat….
Grappy driving with ‘no hands’ cuz owen has taken the wheel!
Kenz, Syd and I enjoying the water…
Owen had such a good time in the water and is getting more and more brave, which is such an improvement over last year when he was so scared to even get into the water at all…The new way to snorkel….
Sydney reading my book club book with papa – until she decided to throw it in the water….oops!
kicking back and enjoying some raisins on the way back to the cottage on Monday….
so sweet, kenz and syd all cuddled up on the way back….
We didn’t even start heading home the dunes until well after three on Monday, and still had to pack up – so we got everything loaded up and hit the road….both kids were out before we even got to the highway….
We stopped in GH for some dinner and ate it in the car on the way home, it worked out great…since we got home around 7ish, which gave us just enough time to get unloaded and get the kiddos ready for bed…..what an awesome weekend! :)
