Eighteen Months

Little miss syd is 18 months old!!!!

Time flies SO quickly – its really amazing to me that she is not my little baby anymore, but becoming such and independent little toddler!  wow. 

So what is she up to besides being incredibly cute and oh so much a little toddler with an attitude?

well, for starters, her stats:

she weighs 23 lbs 11 oz (63rd percentile) and is 32” tall( 53rd percentile).  She’s also wearing size 4 diaper, size 4 shoe, and size 18 mo clothes

She is officially off her bottle – she was still getting one before bed and sometimes before her nap depending on whether she ate a good lunch or not, but we decided to try a sippy cup before bed and it WORKED with absolutely NO protests!  It’s crazy to not have anyone taking a bottle – its been over three years with only a month or two off between when owen stopped his bottle to when syd was born…so its so weird not to have bottles or a drying rack in the kitchen! 

Has pretty much mastered drinking from a cup and eating with a fork/spoon….

She’s also quite the climber…and can climb up her slide in seconds flat and loves to slide down (so serious here)

Absolutely LOVES music and dancing ;  when you ask her to shake her booty - she will move her hands/arms and do like a little homie arm cross thing

Is doing lots of pretend play - pretends to beep on the microwave in her little kitchen or will hold a phone to her ear and say ‘a low’

She is quite the little diva and even though she’s generally very happy – she has QUITE the temper and will throw a fit if she wants or doesn’t want something, and believe me, EVERYONE knows.  

We went through a period in August, where she wouldn’t let me out of her sight even more than normal.  She would scream and cry and get inconsolable for everyone but me both at school and  home. 

Lets just say that she’s VERY determined and that determination likely plays quite the role in her walking (or lack thereof). 

Although she had taken a few steps here and there – as of the beginning of August – she wasn’t officially a ‘walker’  - it was like as soon as she noticed you were looking at her when she stood up or started to take a step, she would plop right back down, and if you wanted her to put weight on her legs and try to walk with her she would ONLY do it on her terms – otherwise it was ‘noodle legs” for sure!  She was pretty much cruising around furniture like crazy, just not ready to venture out without some sort of support –from something or someone else….

That is….until yesterday.  I got call from daycare that she was walking like crazy – everyone, me included, was in tears! wow, it was about time!   Since yesterday, she’s been unstoppable! We  went out for “Dinner with Grandma” tonight and she would walk around the table from me to scott and as soon as she would get to one of us, she would immediately call out the other’s name and want to walk back – she must have walked around that table 10 times!!  She seems to be doing great, but her little legs give out pretty quickly, understandably so …we’ll just have to work on building those muscles!  :) 

So proud of my littles!

So what else has she been up to?   She loves when you give her a napkin or a kleenex, she will wipe her nose or clean up the table ...so cute

Loves to put things inside boxes or a bin – can sit and play forever with the bubble wand and putting it in and pulling it out of the container, she loves to put blocks in and out of a  box

Is puckering when you ask her for a kiss instead of the open mouth kiss and she’ll sit there with her little lips in a pucker until you’re ready to give her a smooch! 

She has fully transitioned to the toddler room as of the 8th of August  and since the middle of her transition she’s been sleeping through the night!!!!!!! on more occasions than not! PTL! 

Is really starting to talk more and more!  Some of her most frequent words are “no” “yes” “nnnn” (which is owen), “mama”, “papa”, and “uh oh”

Repeats EVERYTHING - agua, hola, door, doctor, sure (owen says sure alll the time and syd now says it too!)

the other day when we got home from school, she grabbed her coat, and said ‘off’

when you tell her to be quiet or she sees someone sleeping,  she makes a shhh noise and puts her finger way up her nose

says hot over an over again when she thinks something is hot or cold

says “aye” (hi) and waves at people when we are out running errands

says “high ya” at random times (definitely Veggie Tales “sumo of the opera’s” fault!)

Is still signing and now uses signs for:  more, book, all done, please, thank you, flower, and eat (when she signs eat, she smacks her lips/tongue and nods her head)

when you ask her about a fish, she does a little kissy face

 
when you’re carrying her around and she’s super excited, she waves her little right arm  back and forth

knows her body parts: hair,hand, leg, feet teeth, head, nose, ear, mouth, etc

Can not sleep without her her blanket or her paci (she calls it her “fee fee”)

Is SO aware of what we say or ask her - get your shoe, the book

Really loving to read lately! she loves the same book that owen did at her age, a little people book called ‘welcome to our town’ she loves to find different pictures and try and say words

She is SUCH a little goober and full of SO much personality!!!

      

LOVES to eat – and I swear some days she puts more away than owen does!!! If you have food; she’ll be your best friend!

and she is such a messy eater!  definitely our little garbage pail kid!!!!!

She absolutely IDOLIZES her big bro and he thinks she’s pretty great (most of the time) too!  :) 

 

LOVES her papa, shrieks when she sees him and when he’s not around, she says “ah papa?” with her hands in the air (Where’s papa?)

  

She thinks I’m alright too…. :) 

But don’t let all those happy pictures fool you…its not all gumdrops and lollipops…remember that diva I told you about?!?!

Ah, that’s better (with a little bribery from a mr. twizzler)…. Dancing….

Here mr. frog, are you hungry?
