What Happens in Preschool Stays in Preschool! :)

Owen’s first day of preschool was at the beginning of November – he was so excited to start – but yet a little apprehensive too!

We had an open house that parents could go to with the kiddos and Owen had a great time with that – he got to have cider and doughnuts – and that eased his worries! :) DSCF6090

He goes to preschool on Tuesdays and Thursdays starting at 8:10 – so I just have to make sure to feed him breakfast those mornings, since he leaves for preschool before breakfast time at daycare….’teachers’ from the preschool come right down to daycare and pick him up and bring him down the hall to 'school’ – it works out great!

The first day though, i dropped syd off at daycare and made sure to bring owen down to school myself – he was so proud with his little backpack – its a superhero backpack and he thinks its just about the awesomest thing ever since it was Dylan’s!

Can’t believe I have a preschooler!!

Trick or Treat!

Halloween was so fun this year!

Owen’s class at daycare had a harvest party – and all the kids got to dress up and eat LOTS of sugar!

its like they couldn’t believe their luck – owen has his little yogurt smoothie in one hand and fruitsnacks in the other – and a plate full of other goodies! it was so fun to see the kids in their costumes and having a special afternoon! IMAG0527

Halloween night we took the kiddos trick or treating with Dylan and Kenz and their cousins…we had such good night enjoying seeing the kids get so excited about trick-or-treating…

The next morning, Owen was really quiet and I went in to find this….he had arranged some of his candy in a ‘candy parade’  IMG_8862

kind of in reverse order, because we actually did carve pumpkins BEFORE halloween.  As tradition would call for – the kiddos got to sit on the table and carve away! IMG_8821

Apples!

Back in October, Uncle Travis and Katy surprised Owen with a trip to Crane’s – Owen was so excited!

Kiddos in Action

Since I’ve neglected this blog so much lately, I figured I might as well add a couple videos to make up for it!

lol, these say so much about the little personalities of these two…

In this one, Syd was just minding her own business and then apparently the fish were invading her space…this clip also illustrates one of her favorite (er…her FAVORITE) word: NO!

This is out little goobster in action – papa is playing the recorder and owen is dancing along – he is also chewing gum, and flapping his hands, and sticking out his tongue…this just shows what a funny little kiddo he is – especially at the end! (nevermind my CRAZED laugh!)

First Haircut

All of a sudden, I heard “yucky, mama, yucky” as Owen started walking toward me with a little ‘tuft’ of hair between his finger and thumb….

From a distance I just figured he found a clump of Murph fur, but then…to my horror…i noticed the scissors in his other hand….(which we had neglected to put back in their place after ‘project night’ for preschool from the night before, where we had to cut out items from a magazine that started with a “B”)….

I learned my lesson!

It took a bit before I could gain my composure and work up the courage to check out the damage on Syd’s head.

It really wasn’t that bad…he cut it right off the top, and you wouldn’t even notice it, unless you were looking for it.

What a little stinker…i think its almost inevitable though; for one of the kids to have an unintended haircut !

Labor Day Weekend

So, in keeping with a theme of the last couple posts, why not throw in another….we spent the labor day weekend where else?! At the cottage! :)

The weekend was full of events….we played ‘Baby burrito’ – where we roll the kids up in blankets and then unroll them across the floor…they think this is the greatest thing ever…..

we made forts out of said blankets…another big hit!

Blankets were also used as a fun way of transportation….

And blankets also came in handy for lots of cuddling…

DSCF5958

I got in lotsa cuddling with both of my kiddos! DSCF5966

Syd really took advantage of the cuddling because she got up super early every morning – her and i would just lay for about an hour and a half each morn together wrapped in a blanket on the couch….so sweet! maybe she got up so early because she took such long naps….4.5 hours one afternoon!!!! cottage life is so hard, ya know!

The kiddos thought they were big stuff eating together at the table one morning!

DSCF5964

We kept pretty busy all weekend, but of course there were times when they just needed something fun to do….so thanks to Grandma – who always is prepared – she got out her secret weapon – the popup tent – which was also quite a source of entertainment!

We also ate lots of yummy food! We grilled out one night and had cedar plank-salmon – with some salmon scott had caught earlier in the summer….yum yum yum!

And of course there was lots of fishing! The big boys went out fishing and weren’t really successful, but grandma and i accompanied owen down on the dock and within 30 seconds of casting his line in, he had a huge large mouth bass – we couldn’t believe it! then he casted in again and had a rock bass on within seconds again! Crazy fisherman dude! He way outfished his papa and grandpa!

Scott and I took the kiddos out on the paddle boat for a little fishing too – syd liked to be our little ‘hood ornament’ and perch right up on front of the boat…owen took to fishing off the back and just about every time he would cast, i almost got my ear ripped off – or had a worm in my hair! syd at one point, wondered what was in the little container with the worms in it and when i showed her she made a crazy noice ‘aaaaaaaaackkkkkkkkkkkk” with her tongue sticking out…crazy kiddo!

100_2409

we also ventured out to the state park and took a fun little hike around…owen went on a little jog with papa

IMG_8368

and checked out some fish with grandpa and grandma…IMG_8370

we also saw a little deer100_2417

and some turtles 100_2422

we had to visit the little foot bridge (which was where scott and i got engaged…although they’ve rebuilt it since then)IMG_8377

syd loved hangin out in her stroller and taking in the scenery

100_2412

and owen loved getting to goof off! IMG_8391 IMG_8393

and who doesn’t love a shoulder ride! :) – do you like his hand/arm rest?100_2426

And after all that fun, we had a couple of tired kiddos on our hands!IMG_8382IMG_8397

the rest of the weekend was spent playing together….IMG_8398

and i love the shot taken seconds later where owen is getting ready to hit the pillow, syd is ticked off, because she doesn’t like it and scott has had quite enough! :) IMG_8400

and then even seconds after that, little miss was hammin it up….i guess lesson learned…don’t get caught up in the negative, jump right up and just enjoy yourself! :) IMG_8405

sweetness.IMG_8410

cute little kiddos checkin out the lakeIMG_8416

it was a great weekend spent together! :) we’re so blessed to have such a great place to get away – thanks grandma and grandpa! 100_2429
