Labor Day Weekend

So, in keeping with a theme of the last couple posts, why not throw in another….we spent the labor day weekend where else?! At the cottage! :)

The weekend was full of events….we played ‘Baby burrito’ – where we roll the kids up in blankets and then unroll them across the floor…they think this is the greatest thing ever…..

we made forts out of said blankets…another big hit!

Blankets were also used as a fun way of transportation….

And blankets also came in handy for lots of cuddling…

I got in lotsa cuddling with both of my kiddos! DSCF5966

Syd really took advantage of the cuddling because she got up super early every morning – her and i would just lay for about an hour and a half each morn together wrapped in a blanket on the couch….so sweet! maybe she got up so early because she took such long naps….4.5 hours one afternoon!!!! cottage life is so hard, ya know!

The kiddos thought they were big stuff eating together at the table one morning!

We kept pretty busy all weekend, but of course there were times when they just needed something fun to do….so thanks to Grandma – who always is prepared – she got out her secret weapon – the popup tent – which was also quite a source of entertainment!

We also ate lots of yummy food! We grilled out one night and had cedar plank-salmon – with some salmon scott had caught earlier in the summer….yum yum yum!

And of course there was lots of fishing! The big boys went out fishing and weren’t really successful, but grandma and i accompanied owen down on the dock and within 30 seconds of casting his line in, he had a huge large mouth bass – we couldn’t believe it! then he casted in again and had a rock bass on within seconds again! Crazy fisherman dude! He way outfished his papa and grandpa!

Scott and I took the kiddos out on the paddle boat for a little fishing too – syd liked to be our little ‘hood ornament’ and perch right up on front of the boat…owen took to fishing off the back and just about every time he would cast, i almost got my ear ripped off – or had a worm in my hair! syd at one point, wondered what was in the little container with the worms in it and when i showed her she made a crazy noice ‘aaaaaaaaackkkkkkkkkkkk” with her tongue sticking out…crazy kiddo!

we also ventured out to the state park and took a fun little hike around…owen went on a little jog with papa

and checked out some fish with grandpa and grandma…IMG_8370

we also saw a little deer100_2417

and some turtles 100_2422

we had to visit the little foot bridge (which was where scott and i got engaged…although they’ve rebuilt it since then)IMG_8377

syd loved hangin out in her stroller and taking in the scenery

and owen loved getting to goof off! IMG_8391 IMG_8393

and who doesn’t love a shoulder ride! :) – do you like his hand/arm rest?100_2426

And after all that fun, we had a couple of tired kiddos on our hands!IMG_8382IMG_8397

the rest of the weekend was spent playing together….IMG_8398

and i love the shot taken seconds later where owen is getting ready to hit the pillow, syd is ticked off, because she doesn’t like it and scott has had quite enough! :) IMG_8400

and then even seconds after that, little miss was hammin it up….i guess lesson learned…don’t get caught up in the negative, jump right up and just enjoy yourself! :) IMG_8405

sweetness.IMG_8410
