Our little girl is eight months old and is really not our little baby anymore! She is is growing so fast, 17 lbs now! …for comparison (even though, I know, I shouldn’t be comparing my kids) I had to see how much Owen weighed at 8 mos – and he was over 22lbs!! No wonder she has seemed so tiny to us! :)
Here’s a little size comparison I just had to do….9 days old….
…and just about 8 months old! amazing how much babies grow and develop in just a few short months!!!
She is starting to make such fun noises lately; she clicks her tongue and smacks her lips together and is saying so many new sounds – I swear she’s said ‘mama’ a few times!! :)
Her sleeping schedule is…well…pretty much not a schedule – she doesn’t nap well at all at daycare (maybe 2 half hour naps all day long) then sometimes she refuses to nap once we are at home, which leads the way to many nights where she wakes up, as many as 10 times a night, yes 10! We thought she might have an ear infection again, but the dr said that usually around 10ish months, babies really start to realize they have control over their environment and try to assert their independence – so apparently that’s what she’s up to! I could really go for a full night of sleep though!
She is pretty much sitting up on her own now…she went from needing the boppy for support and not being able to sit for very long in mid Oct….
….and in just two weeks she was doing this….such a big girl!
Her other new tricks include waving, she thinks she is such hot stuff when she waves, and its really quite adorable! She is also clapping, she’ll do it if you ask her to, but she will also do it if she hears music or if you start singing to her…also soooo cute! :)
She still needs that stinkin paci – and usually does without it most of the time she’s awake, unless its really close to bed time – then we let her use it just because it calms her down so quickly!
She is in size 2 diapers and wearing size 6 or 9 mo onesies and 6 or 9 month pants – but she needs a size 12 mo sleeper for the length – which is funny, because we end up having to roll the sleeves up and she looks like a little balloon baby because its so big everywhere else! :)
She has started to protest her bottles and the only solution we’ve managed to find is bringing her to the oversized chair in the living room and laying her down alongside the leg of whomever is feeding her on her back with her head next to our knee, she lays flat on her back and stares up at us and takes her bottle with NO problems like this – as opposed to throwing herself backward and freaking out if we try to give it to her any other way…..
As you can see, she is the sweetest little girl, but also VERY strong willed. She knows what she wants and wants it WHEN she WANTS it! She also freaks out when we are giving her baby-food….lately she HAS to be sitting in the big high chair in order to please her…no more of the portable chair for her….
I call her my little diva..but I wouldn’t have it any other way…Here are some other things she’s been up to…
LOVES to read, she just loves to study the pictures with such seriousness and LOVES to hear stories being read to her…but she also loves to eat books…I mean who wouldn’t?!
She loves to get raspberries on her belly…
Where’s Sydney?
She absolutely adores and is adored by her big brother!
What a precious little lady….
She loves to play with her ball! she will get so excited that she’ll just bury her face right into it and squeal!
You can’t tell she likes it or anything, can you!?
And here she is with her froggy buddy….
What a fun month of new things this has been! Can’t wait to see how she reacts to Santa next month! :)
